Rosalinde Haas interprets Bach’s Choralvorspiele on a Neupert pedal harpsichord. The main instrument is a copy of a French harpsichord built in 1720 by Blanchet.
Our ambition was to create maximal transparency of voices. What you hear is the result of Rosalinde Haas and her husband Peter Krams bringing together a lifetime of experience as organists, training from Helmut Walcha and Fernando Germani, and never ending curiosity as musicians.
To fully appreciate the music you may benefit from reading about background, text, and composition.
For each track we will refer to the relevant pages in Peter William’s The Organ Music of J.S. Bach, 2nd edition 2003, Cambridge University Press (PW). A general introduction to Bach’s Orgelbuechlein can be found on pages 227-238. We present the works in numerical order of Schmieder’s Bachwerkeverzeichnis (BWV), Disc (I): BWV 599-638, Disc (II) BWV 639-644, and a number of Schuebler and other Choralvorspiele.
