Rosalinde Haas Retrospektive – Moderne

This lady rocks! Organ music of the 20th century, played by l’enfant terrible de l’orgue, Rosalinde Haas. These 1970 live concert “Mitschnitte” have never before been published. We intentionally left the recordings raw and unedited. Our motto is Theolonius Monk’s notion of “There is no such thing as a wrong note” (it all depends what you do with it).

We start with two major works by Max Reger (B-A-C-H, op. 46 and fis-Moll Variationen, op. 73), followed by a rarely performed Partita by Hugo Distler, including the opening chorale on “Jesus Christus, unser Heiland”. The highlight of the disc, however are Arnold Schoenberg’s Variations, op. 40. Contrast this with Schoenberg’s “Gurrelieder”…
